Retired private detective Jim Rockford must investigate a series of child rapes when his friend Ernie Landale, a respected school teacher, is accused of the molestations. Through circumstantial evidence, Landale is hounded by the police, the media, school officials, even people he thought were his friends, even though he has not been found guilty in a court of law, nor even charged with the crimes through much of the film. As Landale, his wife Rita, his attorney Beth and police lieutenant Becker fight the battle of public opinion, Rockford realizes the only way to clear his friend's name is to find the real rapist.

Young and ambitious news reporter Diane Winters and her cameraman Simon uncover a mysterious series of gruesome murders that unfold throughout the course of a chaotic and violent day. Alejo Moguillansky’s film draws loosely on Raúl Quirós Molina’s El pan y la sal (The Bread and the Salt), a 2015 verbatim theatre piece compiled from the testimonies provided during the 2012 trial of Judge Baltasar Garzon, for investigating the forced disappearances of the Spanish Civil War and the Franco regime. Juxtaposing the testimonies of the relatives of those who lost loved ones with references to Argentina’s and Chile’s recent dictatorships, this film explores issues around international law and forced disappearance - tracing a line between Francisco Franco, Augusto Pinochet and Jorge Videla’s Military Junta: Garzón has investigated Argentine torturers and criminal perpetrators and had Pinochet arrested in London in 1998 for crimes against humanity.
